Richard D. Hailey is a partner at Indianapolis-based RAMEY & HAILEY, specializing in medical negligence and medical device and pharmaceutical litigation, as well as other complex civil litigation.

Mr. Hailey is a past President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and was the Melvin Belli Society’s Trial Lawyer of the Year in 1998. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers in Indiana, as well as appearing in the Best Lawyers list for the City of Indianapolis. He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University-Indianapolis Law School and a Master of Law (LLM) degree in International Law from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He is on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and is a Fellow of the Roscoe Pound Foundation. 

Mr. Hailey is active in the female hormone replacement therapy litigation, the World Trade Center Multi-District Litigation, Propulsid litigation and the hospital pricing cases that have been filed throughout the Nation. He has testified before various state legislative committees, as well as the Judiciary Committee of the United States Congress on varied issues involving civil liability law. He serves on several non-profit boards, including the Board of Trustees at Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Currently he serves as Special Counsel to Esquire Capital and Esquire Bank located in New York City, New York.

Mr. Hailey has been actively involved with the activities of several international trial lawyer associations, including the Australian Trial Lawyers. In the year 2000, Mr. Hailey traveled to Johannesburg in Cape Town, South Africa, to assist in the initial formation of the South African Trial Lawyers Association, which was the first organized bar in South Africa after it approved its new constitution under President Mandela.
