Gregory S. Cusimano is an owner of, and in full-time practice with the law firm of Cusimano, Keener, Roberts & Raley in Gadsden, Alabama, and a principal in Winning Works, a national consulting firm.
Mr. Cusimano has lectured at continuing legal education seminars for his state association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and other state and bar associations across the country. He served as Chairperson of the National College of Advocacy. He is contributing editor of Alabama Tort Law Handbook and Alabama Tort Law, third and forth edition. He is Co-Editor in Chief of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s 6-volume treatise, Litigating Tort Cases. Mr. Cusimano, along with Jim Lees, released the 5-part ATLA (now AAJ) Education video series, Commanding the Courtroom. He is listed in Best Lawyers of America, Who’s Who in American Law, Best of the U.S.,Super Lawyers and is a Life Member in the National Registry of Who’s Who. Cusimano was the second inductee into the Hall of Fame of the Small Office Practice Section of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America in 1996, listed in Academy of Catastrophic Injury Attorneys, and is a Diplomate of the International Academy of Litigators. The designation of diplomat of Trial Advocacy was bestowed on him in 1994 by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 1998, and the Alabama Law Foundation in 1999 Greg is the fifth recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, now American Association for Justice. Greg was inducted at the top level as “Advocate” in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and Alabama Chapter of ABOTA.
Greg has held every elected position in the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, including president. He was appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court to serve on the committee to rewrite the Alabama Rules of Evidence, and in 1997 was appointed by the Court to serve as a member of the Alabama Pattern Jury Instructions Committee. The Alabama Supreme Court also appointed him to the Committee to review and revise the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure.
A sought after trial consultant, he is a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants, and a Principal in Winning Works, a national consulting firm. He and the other principals, David Wenner, David Bossart and Ed Lazarus, have helped many lawyers in large and small cases alike.
Mr. Cusimano has been active in his Alabama State Bar Association, and has served in several chairmanship positions. He was asked to present at the Alabama Bar Association at a plenary session of an annual meeting on two occasions. He served on the President’s Council of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, is a member of the Board of Governors, and was elected to two terms on the Executive Committee, and in 2002 was elected to serve on the Budget Committee. In 2007, he was appointed to the American Bar Association’s Advisory Panel.
He and attorney David Wenner developed the Overcoming Juror Bias Model, which has revolutionized jury trials across the country. He has lectured at Harvard Law, Hastings Law, Georgetown, the University of Alabama and various other law schools. He has made presentation to Bar Associations and lawyer groups in over forty states.
Mr. Cusimano, in addition, has published several articles in state and national magazines, and contributed to various treatises.
